Welbeck Estate, the venue for the new Bun Run 5K and 10K

Bun Run is getting ready to rise to the occasion

Run, walk or ramble for an award-winning food charity.

Running doesn’t get much more picturesque than this. The private Welbeck Estate is opening up its grounds on Saturday 11 September for The Bun Run – a new trail event which is raising funds for the School of Artisan Food (charity).

SBR Events have been cooking on gas as they created a 5K/10K trail run and walk (ramble) for individuals and families and Canicross and Nordic Walkers are equally welcome to join in. They can expect a well organised and safe event as is the norm which will be chip timed, fully signed and marshalled with water stations around the course and a bespoke medal for every finisher.

The course is a feast for the eyes at the 15,000 acre landed estate within Sherwood Forest in Nottinghamshire, allowing access to areas usually closed to the public. Runners/Walkers in the 5K will follow an undulating route through parkland, skimming past forestry, woodland and farmland whilst showing the best of the British countryside.

The 10K run/walk goes around the park before crossing the lake and into the countryside, offering participants the chance to spot white deer before heading back via Welbeck Abbey. Not forgetting the sweeping views of this 12th century building as part of a working estate.

This event is raising monies for The School of Artisan Food, a not-for-profit organisation which is open to people from all backgrounds to learn about and engage with traditional food production. It supports disadvantaged groups and the local community in a sustainable manner.

Continuing with the culinary theme....there will be a selection of stalls in the race village selling hot food and drinks and with gluten-free and vegan options.
