Adlington Winter Warmer

Naked running at Winter Warmer

The upcoming Adlington Winter Warmer will represent a refreshing change for all those taking part, even if the temperatures are likely to plummet to sub-zero. All of the 350 competing will be running naked, aka without their GPS watch, and have been invited to predict their time.

Scheduled for Sunday 30 December, the Adlington Winter Warmer is a 10k(ish) trail race that is run primarily along the Middlewood Way footpath and Macclesfield Canal. The multi-terrain route is said to be predominantly flat throughout.

As part of the naked running, participants are to submit the time they believe they will finish in – prizes will be awarded to those who are closest to their pre-race prediction.

Ahead of this month’s race, Anthony Ward from organisers Crazy Legs Events told runABC North: “Preparations are going well with all 300+ places now taken and a healthy rate of transfers being requested. We are once again being hosted by the Miners Arm who will provide hot breakfast sandwiches and drinks on the day.”

Unfortunately, all of the entries for this year’s Winter Warmer have already been snapped up. All proceeds from the event will go to Reuben’s Retreat, a charity based in the North West countryside that relieves the distress of families and their close friends who have suffered the bereavement of a child or have a child suffering from a life limiting or life threatening illness.
