Triple Challenge returns to North-East

Three-race series motivates runners into the autumn

Entries have just opened for the three Moray trail races that make up the popular Fochabers Triple Challenge Race Series, organised by the Spey Runners.

The first race in the series, the Gordon Castle 10K (Sunday, 15 May), is a scenic blast through the grounds of the Estate and the neighbouring deer park – with the added bonus of free entry to the Gordon Castle Highland Games & Country Fair held on the same day.

The second event, the Jean Carr Hill Race (Sunday, 31 July), is a 5.5-mile run around the Ordiequish Woods and past the Jean Carr Stone – a local history landmark.

The third and final race in the series is the Monumental Challenge (Sunday, 30 October), a five-mile run taking in the Victorian pyramid on top of Whiteash Hill – a memorial to the Duchess of Richmond erected by the first Duke of Gordon.

Completion of each race traditionally delivers a different medal, which can be linked with the other two in the series. All three races are open to runners over the age of 16.

Each race will be limited to just 150 runners, with no transfers or entries on the day allowed.

The Fochabers Triple Challenge Series was last held in 2019, with Stuart Gardiner and Karen Simpson declared the overall series winners.
