Mid Sussex Marathon Weekend

May Day, May Day!

Mid Sussex Marathon returns. It's the marathon with a three-day time limit...

Have you ever wished you could run a marathon in stages? Does the thought of the whole 26.2 miles in one go look a bit too daunting? Nice Work Race Management has the answer with the 15th Mid Sussex Marathon Weekend on the May Bank Holiday weekend of 2-4 May, 2026.

Mid Sussex Marathon Weekend by Places Leisure, in association with AHS Wellbeing, draws on the considerable race management expertise of Sussex-based Nice Work. With three races in three towns over three days, this unusual event is run in partnership with Mid Sussex District Council and East Grinstead, Haywards Heath, and Burgess Hill Town Councils.

Entrants can choose to enter the East Grinstead 10-mile race, the Haywards Heath 10-mile race, or the Burgess Hill 10K race. Enter all three, and you'll complete the marathon distance in three exhilarating, multi-terrain stages in the Sussex countryside. Renowned for its inclusive atmosphere, friendly volunteers and supportive crowds, the Mid Sussex Marathon Weekend is a wonderful event to include in your new running year.

Mid Sussex Marathon Weekend always receives great feedback from participants. Leanne Litster (W40, Seaford Striders) completed her 2025 marathon tour in 4:41:47 for 116th place from 152 finishers overall before leaving this glowing tribute:

"The best weekend EVER! Highly recommend the Mid Sussex Marathon Weekend. Such a well organised event, with fantastic marshal and crowd support. Felt a bit nervous as this was my first time here and I didn’t know what to expect but absolutely no need, everyone is so friendly and I’m very tempted to make a return appearance next year! Well done Nice Work!"

The much-anticipated event offers something for everyone – from seasoned distance runners to enthusiastic beginners – and provides the opportunity to complete a marathon at your own pace in manageable, bite-sized chunks.

All the main events are complemented by the Mid Sussex Fun Runs at 9:30am, one hour before each race in the Mid Sussex Marathon Weekend. If you feel the need for speed, there are also Mid Sussex Mile races at each venue, starting at 10:00am. Everyone in the supporting events will be awarded a medal to commemorate their achievements.

Positions in the Mid Sussex Marathon Weekend are determined by cumulative time, and all finishers in the three-stage marathon race receive a special Mid Sussex Marathon Weekend T-shirt and bespoke souvenir medal. Last year's overall winners were Ben Peters (Burgess Hill Runners, 2:42:53) and Jenny Hirst (Brighton Phoenix, 3:34:50).
