Return Of The Mallard
This race has it all. It's fast, flat, offers food and is above all... fun!
It's always nice to hear about a race returning for a second outing after a sucessful inaugural staging and that's just what's happening in Lincolnshire this winter (10 November) with The Mallard Cake Dash making a triumphant return to the race calendar.
Organisers say: "The race will be 'new and improved' for 2024 with a few changes being implemented following feedback after the inaugural staging. This race has already established itself in the local running scene as a 'must do'. Boasting a scenic route, a hot drink and slice of cake at the end and a flat and fast course, what's not to be loved?"
This year runners will start right outside the Mallard and head out off site. Westwood Lakes boasts seven fishing lakes and 30 luxury holiday lodges many of which runners will pass as they head out of the complex. Heading left and in reverse to the course for 2023 all runners will head into Jennys Woods first before crossing the road and running around Westgate Woods. This will again be in reverse from the route taken in 2023.
All running will be on tarmac so no need to dig the trail shoes out, this run promises to be as scenic as it is fast. Once runners get to the end of the woods section the 5K will head back onto the site through the service entrance and retrace their route from the start of the race.
Final word with the organisers: "As you have come to expect with Trident Sports Events, we want to make sure that every entrant has an enjoyable experience and that’s why we provide a medal and chip timing for all participants, as well as a cake and hot drink to refuel.
"Come and join us and enjoy a run through the stunning countryside and just to whet your appetite see a few examples of the stunning cakes The Mallard have to offer!"
