Help freeze cancer in its tracks
Join 25,000 others for chills and thrills in the London Winter Run
There are just over three months to go before London's coolest 10K hits the historic streets of the capital once again and you can snap up a reduced price entry in three ways if you act fast.
Cancer Research UK London Winter Run will return on Sunday 13th February 2022 with penguins waddling, husky dog's tails wagging, polar bears hugging, and all manner of winter characters adding to the atmosphere of this unique event.
More than 100,000 people have taken part, raising £4million for life-saving cancer research, since the inaugural run in 2015 – despite the 2020 race being blown off the calendar at the last minute by Storm Ciara and the 2021 edition being virtual-only due to the global pandemic.
Now the stage is set for the grand relaunch of the event that aims to freeze cancer in its tracks. A record 18,500 finished the fifth annual race in 2019 when the fastest runners skated around the 10K course in 31 minutes and bits. First past the finish on Whitehall was Chris Rainsford (Highgate Harriers, 31:23) and W40 Charlene Jacobs-Conradie (Luton, 35:48) retained her women's title.
Virtual Winter Run '21 resulted in over 10,000 taking part, raising a commendable £800,000 between them. The next logical move is a hybrid version for 2022, with the live competition being supplemented by opportunities to earn virtual and physical rewards while training for CRUK London 10K – watch for details to emerge on the new website (launching soon).
Meanwhile, why not freeze your place on the start line near Nelson's Column by taking advantage of one of the following options? Individual Entry is the simplest and most popular route into this event and a few places are still available. Exclusive Fundraiser Entry offers a discounted entry, a free running t-shirt, and a special CRUK Fundraiser medal for a pledge to raise £150. Finally, Five for Four means a healthy 20% discount for small groups or teams.
Still not sure it's for you? Perhaps a glance at the video highlights from 2019 will convince you:
Course highlights include the start in front of the National Gallery in Trafalgar Square, St Paul's Cathedral, The Gherkin, Fleet Street, and the finish near Big Ben, together with on-course musical entertainment, motivational marshals, and the many winter-themed scenes and characters.
This is one winter street party not to miss.
