London Winter Run 2026 Dorothy

High Five For London Winter Run

"A very special day", as 20,000 run London's coolest 10K...

With 20,000 runners, Eddie "The Eagle" Edwards as official starter; a celebration of dancing polar bears at the warm-up, a waddle of penguins marshalling and around £1million raised for Cancer Research UK, it can only be the London Winter Run 10K!

There was no need for the snow cannon to create any artificial sense of winter as the overnight temperature had plummeted to just above freezing on a wet and windy Sunday, 15th February 2026, for the 11th annual fundraising event for the charity that aims to freeze out cancer forever.

Dorothy Dewan (#14575 above) was happy enough to high-five a husky en route to finishing 14,172nd  in 1:08:54. Dorothy put over 5,000 runners behind her as 19,506 finished the race.

The UK’s largest 10K road race is also one of the fastest and most in-depth. The top three men this year were James Cook (Brighton Phoenix, 31:40), Conall McNally (Belgrave Harriers, 32:04), and Ben Collins (unattached, 32:44).

Rowen Hughes (Herne Hill Harriers, 35:45) took the women's race from Tara-Lily Melling (Clapham Chasers, 36:43) and Chloe Farrell (unattached, 36:57). The threshold numbers behind the leaders were staggering, with 370 beating 40 minutes and over 3,100 going inside 50 minutes!

The London Winter Run 10K had again lived up to its billing as 'London's coolest 10K', while raising vital funds and awareness for cancer research. The polar bear-themed 2026 medal was deemed a hit, and the fabulous atmosphere despite challenging weather conditions was summed up by runner Patrick Banks: "This was my first big running event and despite the rain, what a fantastic day, fantastic course, brilliant crowds, and where would we be without those amazing volunteers. A very special day."
