Worcestershire Ambassadors the official charity partner for Worcester City Runs
The partnership aims to support people affected by the pandemic.
Air Products Worcester City Runs is back this autumn and with a new charity partner to deliver an enjoyable event whilst fundraising for mental health initiatives in the community. Also new for 2021 is a family relay event from Paula Radcliffe.
The 2020 event was cancelled due to Covid-19 but it will be full steam ahead on the weekend 4-5 September as racing returns to Worcester in what will be their 7th year on the River Severn. It is organised by Events of the North in conjunction with Worcestershire Ambassadors who together will raise funds for Worcester Community Trust for the benefit of the local community. This includes two programmes to improve people’s health and wellbeing – both of which have taken a battering during the pandemic.
Adults have the choice of a 10K or Half Marathon and juniors can take part in the Young Athletes Run of approx 1 mile for Under 11’s and approx 3km for Under 16’s. New for Worcester is Paula’s Families on Track where members run three laps (250m, 500m and 1000m) in any order to complete 10K. This is designed to be fun as well as competitive and takes place on Saturday.
Sunday sees the Half Marathon at 9am followed by the Young Athletes Run at 9.10am then the 10K at 9.45am. Participants can look forward to a traffic-free course through the city, crowds cheering them on and a medal, goody bag and technical t-shirt at the finish. There might be a PB too with any luck.
The organisers hope a substantial amount will be raised for the community to rebuild lives after the pandemic.
