Liverpool's Big Birthday Countdown Starts Now!

It was another successful outing for Liverpool's Half Marathon, and now the countdown is on for 30th celebrations in 2023...

A field of 2,300 eager runners took to the streets of Liverpool at the weekend for one of the region’s biggest road races as the 29th BTR Liverpool Skyline Half Marathon (and seventh 10 Mile Road Race) returned on Sunday (27 March).

BTR Liverpool Skyline Half Marathon 2022 was won by Ben Taylor from Pensby Runners in 1:10:40 while first place female was Chloe Wilkinson in 1: 23:2.

BTR Liverpool 10 Mile Road Race was won by Stephen Campbell from Knowsley Harriers AC in 52:23 and first place female was Emily Gray from Liverpool Harriers AC in 1:05:04.

BTR Race Director Alan Rothwell commented: “After a challenging two years when the pandemic brought all live and public events to a complete standstill – it feels very fresh, exciting and a real privilege to once again return to staging large-scale races. The smiles, electric atmosphere, and real enthusiasm on the day said it all. It’s great to be back. Well done to everyone who took part.

“We had perfect weather conditions, the spectators were brilliant, and a huge thank you to our volunteers who play such a vital role on race day. With its long established history, Liverpool Half Marathon is firmly rooted in the North West race calendar. We cannot wait to announce full details for our 30th anniversary festival of running in 2023 to mark this incredible milestone.”

To celebrate the milestone 30th anniversary in 2023 the event will grow to span an entire weekend and include 10K, 5K and 1 mile races as part of a brand new festival of running on the banks of the River Mersey. The event date and full details will be announced in the coming weeks.
