Feet So Fast They NEVERLAND!
If there was a running award for the corniest race T-shirt design then the 2018 Kew Gardens 10K freebie would certainly be a contender! Inspired by this year's Peter Pan dressing, race organisers Tom and Jade have punned their way to the top of the pile with their Neverland themed NIKE technical garment.
With three months to race day (Saturday, 15 September) the race is almost 90% full so if you want to get your hands on one of these bad boys you need to get cracking to get your entry accepted before the gates to London's fabulous botanical gardens are closed.
Kew is said to house the: 'largest and most diverse botanical and mycological collections in the world', according to Wikipedia. One of the great incentives for entering Kew Gardens 10K is that you will receive two free adult and unlimited children's access tickets to Kew Gardens. You will also be entitled to a free beer, great medal, well stuffed goody bag and the opportunity to run on London's flattest 10K course entirely within a World Heritage Site.
Kew Gardens 10K is the opening event in Richmond Runfest weekend, featuring the Richmond Marathon, Richmond Half Marathon and Runfest Kids Mile and NIKE Family Fun Run. Race venues are either Kew Gardens or Old Deer Park, where there will be a free music festival and free Fullers beer for (adult) competitors.
Always on the lookout for a bargain, our runABC South correspondent has alerted us to a 40% discount for all registered Richmond Runfest competitors who enter the Brentford Challenge 10K or 5K on Sunday, 24 July. Brentford Challenge presents the only opportunity to run in the stunning 200 acre grounds of Syon House and Park in Isleworth, West London.
So, what are you waiting for? Sign up for Kew Gardens 10K today to secure a modern classic in T-shirt design and use your 40% discount for Brentford Challenge as part of your build-up to the big one – sorted!
