Adam Holland with fellow lap runners at the Newark Showground Christmas Challenge event

Merry go round at the Newark Showground Xmas Challenge

Lap up the miles ahead of the festive season.

Marathon and Ultra marathon star and friend of runABC Adam ‘Tango’ Holland invites runners of all abilities to run a lap or several at his Newark Showground Christmas Challenge on 17-18 December. Expect a flat course, bespoke medal and plenty of good cheer.

Whilst it seems strange to be talking about a Christmas event as the sun shine constinues to shine, the weeks soon fly by and before you know it, the big day will be upon us. But before the seasonal madness begins and your head goes in a spin why not spin your legs instead and run 3.3 mile loops along Newark Airfield in the company of like minded souls.

This event was mothballed due to the pandemic but is back for December 2022 and Adam is looking forward to welcoming runners for some friendly competition. Festive fancy dress is also welcome.

Chose from Saturday 17 December or Sunday 18 December or both. They start at 9am and finish at 3pm although participants can begin whenever they are ready. It all depends upon your target distance.

Run four laps for a half marathon, eight laps for a marathon or as many as possible in 6 hours. The course is mainly on paths so road shoes are suitable to wear and there is a well stocked aid station (including mince pies) to top up the energy levels. Toilets are close to the start and finish line.

Finishers receive a customised medal whether they run one lap or 10 which will be presented by Adam Holland. Sign up via the Event Entry website, roll up to Newark Showground and tick off the laps.
