Icing On The Cake Trail Run Medals

Tasty Trail Run

Plenty of rewards at this testing Shropshire trail race...

This Shropshire event is a real 'tasty treat' with both half marathon and marathon distances on offer at the Icing On The Cake Trail Run. Set to take place on 3 February, runners are guaranteed a tough but scenic race followed by refreshments which obviously include cake.

Runners can tackle 13.1 or 26.2 miles on the beautiful Shropshire Hills and The Long Mynd. The half marathon consists of one loop through beautiful rugged countryside, with marathoners having the bonus of seeing it all twice!

Then the climbing begins on this way-marked course which winds its way up and down these hills and over the Long Mynd; on footpaths, grass, bridleways and road with some of the best views in the county. This is definitely a race for the mountain goat!

Whilst the route is marked runners are advised to have a map of the area along with a race vest, first aid kit, spare layer and a minimum of 500ml of water. There is an aid station on the course with drinks and snacks but participants are still required to carry sufficient fluids.

There is a mile long descent back into Carding Mill Valley then a mad dash over the finish line past the National Trust cafe, to be rewarded with a medal that looks good enough to eat. Recover with a drink and the culinary delights set out on tables before the drive home.
