Hot On One’s Trail Or Road
A heatwave has been forecast for the Bank Holiday weekend (5-6 May) with plenty of sunshine and temperatures set to reach the mid 20’s. Stay hydrated and slap on the sun lotion for these hot events.
There’s magic in the air or to be precise, off-road at two trail races in the Forest of Dean. The Outdoors Magic Trail Race is brought to you by OMM and held at their festival ground with a choice of a half marathon or marathon. They both start at 10.30am on Saturday and there is free camping so take advantage of the good weather and enjoy the weekend.
Our off-road fun continues in North Herefordshire and the Shobdon Wood Race, hosted by Croft Ambrey Running Club. There is a new, extended route of 5.38 miles compared to 5.2 last year and it includes a greater section of the Mortimer Trail. Every runner will receive a memento and there are doughnuts and other refreshments at the finish.
Over in Staffordshire we have the Uttoxeter Festival of Running featuring a junior race for under 16s, a 10k and a half marathon. These take place on a scenic route in the countryside and start/finish at Uttoxeter Racecourse. This is an annual event and designed for people of all ages so an ideal bank holiday outing for the family.
Zoom over to East Anglia for the Fen Drayton 10K, Fun Run and Family Fun Day with all proceeds going to local charities. There is a treat in store in the form of a Lancaster Bomber fly past from the Battle of Britain Memorial Team as well as numerous attractions for runners, their families and spectators.
