Start of a race at the Hopton Court Trail Run event

Hopton Court Trail Run returns with new relay option

Relay and Canicross added to the rescheduled Hopton Court Trail Run.

The Hopton Court Trail Run will take place on Sunday 27 September and with a couple of new additions – a team relay and Canicross. The new events will join 5K, 10K and Half Marathon options in beautiful countryside in South Shropshire. Organisers reckon there's a good chance of dry weather.

Conditions were wet and windy in February for the first Hopton Court Trail Run Winter 2020 as Storm Ciara blew into the UK and threatened to spoil proceedings. However, the organisers and runners were more than a match for her and the event was a success. It was all looking good for July and the summer version then the coronavirus outbreak arrived in Britain and the country went into lockdown.

Due to the ongoing situation, the Hopton Court Trail Run Summer 2020 was moved to autumn. Organiser are following government guidelines and taking all the necessary steps to ensure that they deliver a Covid-19 secure event that is also fun for everyone taking part.

Along with the three existing distances, a 20K team relay for four people has been included where each runner completes a 5K lap. There is a minimum age of 11 for this race. Anyone who enjoys running with their dog – who has probably had more exercise than normal during lockdown – can enter any of the four options.

Two and four legged participants can expect a multi-terrain course consisting of woodlands, fields and hard footpaths and a water crossing on a delightful private estate. The course will be marked and marshalled.

For more information about the event and how to sign up, visit the Hopton Court Trail Run – Autumn 2020 Entry Central page.

Note: if the event is unable to go ahead the organisers will offer a refund or deferral to next year.
