Holme Valley Five Miler

Run Holme This June

A Friday night 5 miler gets the weekend off to a fantastic start...

Runners seeking a Friday night trail challenge should mark their calendars for the Holme Valley Five Miler, taking place on 27 June in Holmfirth. Organised by Summer Wine Trails, this event offers participants a unique opportunity to tackle a five-mile out-and-back course that combines a gradual ascent with a rewarding downhill return.

The race action begins on Brownhill Lane, leading runners onto a track that ascends to the 2.5-mile mark. From there, it’s a downhill journey along Kiln Bent Road and Holme Woods Lane back to the finish.

A highlight of the event is the team challenge, where the fastest male and female teams of five runners will compete for substantial trophies. All participants can look forward to a bespoke locally sourced medal, free photos, a warm Yorkshire welcome and the chance to win from a substantial prize list, including spot prizes. Additionally, food and drink will be available for purchase post-race.

Since 2014, the volunteer team at Summer Wine Trails has been organising challenging trail races around the picturesque Holme Valley. Known for their warm welcomes, friendly volunteers, and distinctive medals, these events have also raised thousands for local causes, operating entirely on a not-for-profit basis.

Speaking about their event organisers comment: “We look forward to seeing many of you wonderful runners join us on these fabulous runs. Without you all, we would not be able to help towards the wonderful charities we support in the local community.”
