Reach Great Heights This Autumn
A fantastic trail festival will be taking place in West Yorkshire this autumn...
Head to the picturesque Colne & Holme Valleys this September (2nd) for a true festival of trail running - the Heights Ultra Trail event. This celebration of all things trail includes a 50 Mile, 50K, 10K and 1 Mile race, so it boasts a distance to suit anyone who fancies taking part.
The 50 Mile and 50K events will take runners through the heart of the two beautiful Colne & Holme Valleys which are situated in the borough of Kirklees on the edge of the Peak District National Park. Both valleys are renowned over the last few decades for being the setting of some iconic TV and film productions.
The route, which is approx 90% off road will allow those taking part to experience a mixed terrain with beautiful trails, open moorland and wonderful vistas. This 50 Mile Ultra has a highest peak of 582 metres and an elevation gain of 1834 metres while the 50K has an elevation gain of just over 1000 metres.
The Heights 10K is a classic 10k trail run on country lanes, lovely trails and catchwater in the iconic Colne Valley in Kirklees. This is not a PB course but a scenic beauty awaits on this well waymarked course with many cheery marshals en route to support you to the finish.
The 1 Mile cross country run for children and their families takes place around the grounds of the Colne Valley High School. This is a great way to introduce younger people to the world of running - make an event of it and run with the whole family.
With races to suit all, the family fun is extended beyond racing with local stalls, entertainment, kids activities and food/drink available also. This race is being organised for charity purposes with all proceeds going directly to three local primary schools.
