Hagbourne Fun Run

Mud, Miles & Community Smiles

With its mix of off-road charm, community cheer and feel-good fundraising, the Hagbourne Fun Run is a perfect way to spend your May bank holiday...

One of Oxfordshire’s most charming running events is set to return on Monday 5 May 2025, as the Hagbourne Fun Run once again takes over the footpaths, bridleways and village lanes of East Hagbourne and beyond.

This family-friendly event is now a firm fixture of the early May bank holiday. Participants of all ages and abilities are invited to take on the 4.5-mile multi-terrain route, which starts and finishes in East Hagbourne. The scenic course winds its way through the neighbouring villages of West Hagbourne, Upton and Blewbury, offering runners and walkers a glorious taste of the South Oxfordshire countryside.

With a route that includes stiles, kissing gates, muddy stretches and uneven terrain, it’s a true countryside adventure that’s more about the experience than chasing a personal best. While the course includes one short section of road through Upton, most of the route follows peaceful footpaths and bridleways, making it an ideal outing for families and community groups.

After the finish line, the community spirit continues with hot food, homemade cakes, drinks and prize giving at East Hagbourne Village Hall - a celebratory gathering that adds to the warm, village atmosphere the event is known for.

Since its beginnings in 1990, the Hagbourne Fun Run and Walk has raised thousands of pounds for cancer charities and the Hagbourne Village Fund, which supports a wide range of local causes and projects. Whether you’re running in memory of a loved one, supporting the village, or simply enjoying a scenic morning in the fresh air, every step helps to make a difference.
