Great Skipton Santa Fun Run

Skipton's Santas

Sign up, dress up and join one of Skipton’s most festive events...

Skipton is preparing for one of its most colourful annual traditions as the Great Skipton Santa Fun Run returns on 30 November 2025. The charity event, organised by Rotary in Skipton and supported by Skipton Town Council, sees the town transformed into a sea of red as thousands of Santas run through its streets.

Fun runners will set off from Skipton High Street before heading out through Aireville Park and Skipton Woods, returning to the High Street to finish. Thanks to its timing the run traditionally acts as a warm-up to the town’s Christmas lights switch-on later in the day.

The event first took place in 2010, around 400 participants took part in that inaugural run, raising funds for Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice, Martin House Hospice and other local charities. Since then, the event has grown into a major fixture on the town’s calendar.

Last year’s 15th edition saw a remarkable 2,266 Santas take on either the 5K route or the shorter 3K option. The 2024 event raised an impressive £63,585 through sponsorship, donations and funds generated directly for runners’ chosen charities.

Organisers say: "Join us for one of Skipton’s most festive events. The first 10 charities, schools, organisations or amateur clubs that enter a team of 25 or more, will receive a £250 incentive for their organisation."
