A perfect evening for the Shrewsbury 5K

Shrewsbury 5K promises a speedy night out

1,500 places only at this UKA accredited race.

Friday 1 July at 6.30pm is the Hatfields Shrewsbury 5K, a short and sweet race alongside the River Severn with a bespoke medal for every finisher. It’s open to runners aged 11 and upwards so youngsters as well as adults can test their fitness and stamina levels on this attractive course.

This race is brought to you by Ultimate Fitness Events, the organisers of the Hatfields Shrewsbury Running Festival that made a winning debut in 2021. Going forward from that, they hosted a successful Hatfields Shrewsbury 10K in March this year which will be followed by this 5K in July and a track based ‘Night of 5,000m’ in September.

Professionally chip timed, it starts in Quarry Park with a fast downhill to get the legs turning over before heading out on a flat course then along the river to the English Bridge. It carries on underneath the bridge to the Weir then a quick turn and back to the finish at Quarry Park.

There is post race fuel along with a medal and free official race photos to look forward to and hopefully, a shiny new PB and, given this course, that's more than a realistic prospect. With a July date, the weather's sure to be a factor so fingers crossed for a cooling breeze on the night.

Places are likely to be snapped up so be quick and sign up to secure your place. Once they’ve gone, they’ve gone...
