Petzl Night Runner Salcey Forest

Petzl Night Trails 10K is an evening trail running event organised by Big Bear Events at Salcey Forest near Northampton. The race takes runners through the woodland after dark, with a separate canicross category for participants running with their dogs. Petzl also attends the event, giving runners the opportunity to try out headtorches.

The 10K route follows two laps of a fully marked course through Salcey Forest, mainly using crushed stone trails that can become muddy or slippery in wet conditions. The predominantly flat terrain makes the event accessible to runners of different abilities, while the darkness adds an extra challenge. A headtorch or chest torch is mandatory for all participants.

Runners receive a finisher medal and post race goodies, with the option to choose a tree planting token instead of a medal. Water and electrolytes are available on the course, alongside hot drinks before and after the race. The forest also provides toilets, café facilities and discounted evening parking for participants.
