Fochabers Triple Challenge

Triple The Fun

Not one, not two, but three quality events make up the Fochabers Triple Challenge...

Make sure you benefit from three times the fun and book yourself a spot on each of the races that make up Spey Runners' Fochabers Triple Challenge. The trio of races spans the entire year with spring, summer and autumn race dates.

The first race in the series is the Gordon Castle 10K (19 May) and involves a scenic journey through the grounds of the Gordon Castle estate and neighbouring deer park. With the added bonus of free entry to the Gordon Castle Highland Games & Country Fair held on the same day, it makes for a fantastic day out. Organisers comment: "Come and join us in the picturesque grounds of Gordon Castle estate and neighbouring Deer Park. A great run and a great day out."

Into summertime and the Jean Carr Hill Race will take place on 28 July. This event is a 5.5-mile run around the Ordiequish Woods past the fabled Jean Carr Stone – a local history landmark.

The third and final race in the series is the Monumental Challenge (27 October). Starting and finishing at the foot of the Monster Trails, this challenging 5+ mile trail race passes the monument at the top of the picturesque Whiteash Hill. The Victorian pyramid is in fact a memorial to the Duchess of Richmond erected by the first Duke of Gordon.

Completion of each race traditionally delivers a different medal, which can be linked with the other two in the series. In 2023 it was Ross Finlayson and Jessica Haworth who took the trophies for fastest male and female over the series.
