runABC is in the process of upgrading and improving its online service so you might encounter the odd glitch over the next week or so but rest assured we’re working on them and the new site will be a fantastic resource for our running community.

Epilepsy Action Bradford 10K

Final Places Remain For Bradford 10K

Just a handful of places remain for next weekend’s Epilepsy Action Bradford 10K. Believed to be one of the fastest in Yorkshire, the 10k attracts a quality field year-on-year and organisers are anticipating that they will reach the sell-out mark of 2,000 by the time race day comes on Sunday 18 March.

Epilepsy Action's very own 10k, the event has raised hundreds of thousands of pounds to help improve the lives of everyone affected by epilepsy. The funds raised go directly to supporting the 600,000 people with epilepsy in the UK, 50,000 of which live in the Yorkshire and Humber area.

One of those taking part is Adam Buglass, 35, who was diagnosed with epilepsy last year. He has adjusted to his condition, and surrendering his driving licence, by taking up running.

“On 5 April 2016 I had my first ever tonic-clonic seizure. Each seizure set the driving ban clock back another 12 months. And each time those closest to me would feel more anxious about my health. Information was hard to find and my driving ban was extended to 12 months. So I kept running.”

Adam found a lifeline through Leeds-based charity Epilepsy Action, who referred him to their nursing service. “Since 18 March 2017 I’ve been seizure-free with few side effects, and Epilepsy Action have continued to support us. Last September, I ran my first 10k and can’t wait to take on next week’s race.”

Starting and finishing in Centenary Square, the event is a firm fixture in the local running diary and popular with beginners and those chasing a personal best. The event is highly rated for its organisation and PB potential, with 93% of runners saying they would do it again.

Registration is priced at £22 / £20 for affiliated runners. Entry is available here.
