Run Keele Expo ready to be a show stopper
Plenty to see and do at this running extravaganza.
Races, music, food and drink are part of a packed schedule at the Run Keele Expo – a new event from AV Timing taking place on Sunday 24 July in Staffordshire. The day is devoted to our favourite activity and a chance to socialise with others on a summer’s day in relaxed, friendly surroundings. Fingers crossed for warm weather!
Keele University is the location for the Expo which aims to be enjoyable as well as inclusive. There is a Half Marathon, Trail 5K, Fun Run, Relay and Beer Mile – the latter likely to be very popular especially if there is a heatwave and all held on scenic courses which start and finish at the university.
The Half Marathon is a traffic-managed race starting at 11am and heads away from the campus and on through the villages of Keele, Madeley and Baldwin’s Gate. Then back into the university and a fast downhill into Union Square and the finish to be rewarded with a bespoke medal and t-shirt.
At 2pm is the Trail 5K which stays within the university grounds. The route goes past the observatory, through the woods to the lakes then circles the gardens and the clock tower before finishing on Union Square.
There is an awards ceremony where individuals, clubs and companies are recognised for their efforts based on nominations that day: also presentations, shows, retail and basically, anything and everything to do with running.
The expo is doing its bit for the environment by offering people the option of the medal and plant a tree instead of a t-shirt as mementos in the Half Marathon. AV Timing supports Tees for Trees.
