Shrewsbury Half Marathon

Entries still open for autumn Shrewsbury Half Marathon

There are less than 10 weeks to the Shrewsbury Half Marathon on Sunday 6 October but still time to get in shape for this top MIdlands race. Waiting for entrants is a closed road course, attractive countryside and a big Shropshire welcome.

One of the most scenic and popular half marathons in the UK: the On Shrewsbury Half Marathon with its mixture of town and country and a touch of medieval history is a race that has become a favourite for many. The new autumn date means there is plenty of time to prepare, safe in the knowledge that temperatures will be cooler on race day.

The event is organised by UK Run Events with Swiss running shoe brand On the headline sponsor. Up & Running are the official sports retail partner and their SRG pacers will help runners achieve their target PBs. Further encouragement will be provided by marshals and enthusiastic crowds who line the route to cheer everyone particularly when they climb up Wyle Cop!

Shropshire Country Showground acts as the start/finish and home to a top quality Athletes Village that includes free, pre and post race massages, food stalls and entertainment. At the finish runners will be handed a bespoke medal, technical T-shirt, carton of On water and race treats. There are rophies and prizes for the top three men and women and age category winners supported by Up & Running plus free race photographs for everyone.

Race director Joe Williams sums it up neatly saying: “Now is the time to sign up, train during the summer and have a superb day of running in October.”
