Running through the mire at the Muddy Woody 6

Get stuck in for the Muddy Woody 6

Next year’s race will be chip timed.

If you like ups, downs and a good trudge through sludge then try the Wye Valley Brewery - Muddy Woody 6 at 11am on Sunday 13 February. A slick event from Wye Valley Runners, it is a challenging 6 mile race on forest tracks, trails and footpaths with like minded souls followed by tea and doughnuts afterwards.

“Mud, mud glorious mud” will be on the menu at this perennial favourite, held in Haugh Woods near Hereford. This 850 acre, attractive woodland contains a variety of trails and is home to large numbers of butterflies and moths along with views across the Herefordshire hills.

Speaking of hills... there are tough climbs along the way and the race itself has approx 1000ft of elevation which will test the hardiest of runners! What goes up must come down however, in the form of technical descents to stay focused on.

Make sure your laces are fastened tightly when you reach the mud and grin (or grimace) as you battle through; to cheers and shouts of encouragement from enthusiastic marshals on a well marked course. There is a water crossing too – ideal for washing off all that mud!

There are prizes courtesy of Wye Valley Brewery, a technical t-shirt for every finisher, goody bag and refreshments. The latter will go down a treat after 6 demanding miles.

Places are being snapped up at this popular race. Sign up now for a muddy good time via the Wye Valley Runners website.

Note: There are no entries on the day.
