A shot of the private estate at Locko Park in Derbyshire

New Locko Park 5K & 10K aims to be a cracker!

This Christmas event includes a free 2K Children’s Run.

It’s beginning to look a lot like a new Christmas race from organisers Nice Work offering the chance to run through beautiful grounds and receive festive goodies in return. All of this is on the menu at the Locko Park Christmas 5K & 10K and there is a free 2K kid’s run as well at this family-friendly event.

This festive 5K and 10K takes place on Saturday 11 December at Locko Park near Spondon, Derbyshire which is home to the Grade II listed Locko Hall, situated within 300 acres of parkland. Ownership of this dates back to the 11th Century.

Today, Locko Park is used as a venue for weddings and corporate events. The estate is usually closed to visitors but this inaugural event provides runners with a rare opportunity to enjoy the trails around the venue. They complete one lap (5K) or two laps (10K) on traffic-free, undulating trails that start near the main drive then past the Hall and on through the estate.

The course is marshalled and a sweep runner will be on hand to help and motivate to the finish.

There are trophies for the top runners in both the 5K and 10K and age category prizes and. as it is Christmas themed, prizes for the best fancy dress! Families are encouraged to get into the seasonal spirit by wearing costumes and there is a bespoke medal for every finisher along with festive treats.

Souvenir technical t-shirts are available to buy.
