It may be seven odd months away, but if you like to get value for money then now is the time to sign up for one of the distances on offer in the 2023 Sunderland City Runs (7 May) as early bird prices are still on offer... until Halloween that is! 

The first Sunderland city 10K was held in 2011 with just over 1500 taking part, 12 years later the Sunderland City Runs will welcome around 5000 participants to the city streets in a celebration of running across a range of distances. Runners can choose to take part in the 10K, stunning half marathon, or the Big 3K. Not only that, the day before the City Spire 5K will take place with elite runners once again welcomed to join in the 'Fast 5K' taking advantage of the flat and fast course. 

This is one of the North's largest running events and it boasts one of the most exciting courses on offer too, with runners taken on a journey through the city and along the sea front, with two famous bridges providing a stunning backdrop to all three distances. No matter if you’re a first-timer or an experienced runner, the course and atmosphere are conducive to fast times as well as a lot of fun.

A spokesperson from race organiser, Events Of The North, commented: "With spectacular coastal views and a brilliant atmosphere, although we cannot guarantee the weather, we can guarantee a superbly organised event with plenty of support on the route and an army of enthusiastic volunteers to make it a great day for all taking part." 

All participants will receive a t-shirt, medal and goody bag. There is ample city centre parking, baggage services and plenty of fun activities for those not taking part.
