Two Counties Half Marathon returns for a second year
There is a treat in store for any runner who enters the Two Counties Half Marathon and Relay on Sunday 9 September. Two attractive locations are among the delights on offer at this rural road race.
The Two Counties Half Marathon was launched in 2017 to great success and organisers Desborough & Rothwell RC are looking to build upon that at this year’s event. They want the race to be as inclusive as their club – meaning anyone can enter irrespective of age, ability or experience. The race will also feature a team of pacers to guide runners to their target time.
Organisers are hoping everyone will enjoy the day, whether they are a runner, marshal or spectator in the stunning countryside of North Northamptonshire and South Leicestershire. Starting at 10am from East Carlton Country Park, the route goes along country roads, passing through several villages including Bringhurst, Cottingham and Middleton followed by a hill climb towards the finish at the Park.
There are three water stations at three, six and nine miles and the route is well signed and marshalled. Note: headphones are not to be worn during the race.
Every finisher will receive a bespoke medal inscribed with a map of the two counties, a commemorative T-shirt, water and a goody bag. A donation from each entry goes to sponsored local charity Lakelands Hospice.
