Dorking Tens Are Back
'Flaming June' sees the Dorking 10 and Cockerel 10K return to Dorking Rugby Club...
The 39th Dorking 10K and 10-mile road races return to Dorking Rugby Club on Sunday 1 June 2025 and are among the runABC South featured races for June.
Dorking & Mole Valley Athletics Club, long-standing hosts of this traditional event, have opened entries and confirmed that the 2025 race will incorporate the Surrey Ten Mile Road Race Championships.
The host club's talisman, George James, recently finished fifth in the European Road Running Championships Marathon in a PB 2:10:10, so he would take some beating if he enters!
Last year's winners of the Cockerel 10K were Reigate Priory AC runners Euan Willis (33:55 PB) – the 2023 champion – and Laura Ebbs (39:53 PB), as 120 finished the flat, fast course in 1:27:27.
The Dorking 10 winners were Daniel Gaffney (South London Harriers, 54:09) and former Dorking and Mole Valley AC member Georgie Bruinvels (Aldershot Farnham & District AC, 58:36 – one of 32 athletes to beat the hour. With total finishers numbering 375 in two and a quarter hours, this was easily the most popular distance.
This year, 40% of the profit from this year's event will be donated to two charities: The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity and Action for Carers Surrey. Both races welcome beginners and disabled athletes, and the course is safe for wheelchairs.
There will be plenty of support on the course as the host club provides up to 100 marshals and helpers at this family-friendly event. Another Dorking Tens tradition is that the sun shines, although that's not an actual guarantee!
