Midweek Miles Better

Why do all your racing at the weekend?

Why does all your racing fun have to take place on the weekend? It doesn't! One of the Midlands' biggest midweek races is back for 2024 and with positive reviews commonplace, it would be churlish not to consider entering the DK10K Road Race which is all set for a 1 May outing.

The DK10K is a well organised and long established race from Dudley Kingswinford RC which is always held on the first Wednesday in May. A 7pm start time gives you plenty of time to finish work and eat a light dinner before making your way to the start line.

A BARR Gold Standard event, it has become a favourite with many club runners who enjoy the challenge posed by the undulating course on quiet country lanes. The race has grown in popularity over the years and with a capacity of 1000 runners is now one of the biggest midweek 10K road races in the Midlands.

Starting and finishing at Dudley Kingswinford Rugby Club, the course is undulating around quiet and attractive country lanes and features a 'lollipop' style route that winds around the lanes between Greensforge and Enville.

Organisers say: "Smiling, efficient marshals will keep things moving whilst providing encouragement as you tackle the inclines and descents. Post race you can make the most of the facilities at the rugby club which include a bar and food along with parking, changing rooms and showers."

Over 530 runners took part in 2023 with Henry Brocklehurst of Birmingham Running Athletic & Triathlon Club first over the line in 32:43 while first female was Millie Smith of Blackheath and Bromley Harriers who clocked 37:25.
