This north-east festival of running returns next month with even more to offer...

Looking for something for the whole family to enjoy before the schools go back after the summer holidays? The north east's Deveron Valley Festival Of Running will return on 6 August and, making it the perfect family day out, is the addition of a new 5K and kids 1K fun run. Not only that, the races coincide with Banff Rugby Club's fun day.

The event is a multi-terrain affair which already boasts a half marathon and 10K distance. Runners will follow the River Deveron from Turriff to Banff and with the distances on offer, runners of all levels will get to enjoy some beautiful scenery and stunning views.

The half marathon sets off from Turriff with the route predominantly following a quiet road along the number 1 National Cycle Route. The 10K joins on along the same route at Castle Eden.

In the latter part of the run participants enter a woodland trail which crosses the spectacular Bridge of Alvah, they will then run through the historic Duff House grounds passing the Ice House and Mausoleum, before finishing at Duff House Rugby club playing pitches. The 5K will be a trail run with its course taking in the grounds of Duff House.

The races may be just over a week away, but there is still time to enter. All entrants will receive a memento, medal and goody bag with some beautiful hand-crafted trophies for prize winners.
