It's The Great Run Countdown!

The countdown to Great Manchester Run has officially begun, with just 6 weeks to go...

It's hard to see the word 'countdown' without bursting into song, air guitar and all. So apologies if reading this leaves you battling an earworm for the rest of the day!

But we need to let you know that the countdown to the Great Manchester Run is on. The UK’s biggest and best 10K returns to the city on Sunday 26 September, and it’s already shaping up to be an action-packed celebration of running, with 10K and Half Marathon events being staged alongside the Junior & Mini race.

The event is famous for its city centre route, buzzing atmosphere, iconic music, and Mancunian spirit in abundance. With entertainment zones that celebrate local character and culture at every kilometre, some of the best (and loudest!) crowd support anywhere in the world, and all the action televised live on the BBC, this is an event day experience like no other.

Renowned for being fast and flat, Manchester’s original running event showcases some of the city's most famous landmarks, including the iconic football stadiums. And back by popular demand for 2021 is the Hacienda zone, featuring a massive sound system, disco lights and bubble machine – it’s guaranteed to give runners a final boost to the finish line.

The greatest reward in taking part is the sense of achievement as you cross the finish line, but a shiny new medal, a snazzy finisher's t-shirt and bag filled with goodies will await you at the end of the run.

The Junior & Mini event gives runners aged 3+ the opportunity to enjoy the big event experience. A buzzing atmosphere, music and plenty of encouragement will help your little one the whole way round the course, and a very special medal awaits at the finish.

Great Run events are renowned for being well-organised, safe, and inclusive not only that, the atmosphere and support is always unbelievable. Whether you do it for the challenge, to fundraise for charity, or simply for fun, take your place on the start line and be part of something really special.
