Run into Christmas at the Audley Festive 5K
Santa and his helpers will be amongst the field for a seasonal special around Audley village.
The Audley Festive 5K takes place on Sunday 18 December and excitement is building ahead of this popular fundraising event which this year supports The Midlands Air Ambulance.
There is nothing like a festive run to get you in the mood for Christmas and Audley Striders RC in conjunction with the Rotary Club of Audley have a merry little 5K guaranteed to do just that. Fancy dress, a fast course and chip timing are a few of the highlights of a small yet perfectly formed event.
Audley Cricket Club is the Race HQ where a mix of runners – some from local clubs others unattached and/or new to the sport – gather beforehand to socialise before the start. Youngsters (under 16’s) are equally welcome but must be accompanied by an adult.
Runners will head off at 11am on a route around the village with cheers and applause from marshals and local residents keeping them going to the end back at the Cricket Club. Their reward is a medal and woolly hat waiting for them at the finish.
Ben Brereton of Newcastle (Staffs) AC won the 2021 Audley Festive 5K in 17:00: Alice Thomas was the women’s winner in 21:35. Will they defend their titles at this year’s race?
And... It is heart-warming to hear that the Audley Festive 5K has sold out especially in the economic climate where many people are feeling the pinch. Places were snapped up quicker than you can say “Merry Runmas”.
