Chew Valley 10K leaders 2023

Don't Blow It In Hinton Blewitt!

It's the return of THE HILL as the Chew Valley 10K opens for entries...

There's a 10K in the Chew Valley. They call it the Chew Valley 10K! It is that sort of simplicity, honesty, and directness that draws up to 850 runners back to this delightful area in North East Somerset, home of the fifth largest artificial lake in the UK, the 1,200-acre Chew Valley Lake.

Chew Valley 10K will launch for the 12th time from Bishop Sutton Village Hall at 09:30am on Sunday 9 June 2024 and a basic race number is yours for just £13 for juniors aged 15-18 years or £20 for adults (plus £2 for unaffiliated runners). Entries can be topped up to include the optional event T-shirt and there is a small additional processing fee to be added at checkout.

For rather less than a King's ransom, you will receive the legendary Chew Valley 10K support; chip timing; bespoke medal; free professional photos; free supervised indoor kit storage; free parking, and free transfers of numbers (up to Sunday 12 May 2024).

The winners' prizes include an organic veg box from The Community Farm and there are the usual age group awards that will be distributed back at Race HQ where refreshments and delicious cakes will be available courtesy of Bishop Sutton Pre-School and Forest School.

The race starts at Bishop Sutton Village Hall and follows the rural roads towards East Harptree in the shadow of the Mendip Hills. The challenge then comes in the climb up to the village of Hinton Blewitt from where you will be rewarded with expansive views over Chew Valley. The final stretch drops you steeply down into Bishop Sutton where the crowds will cheer you across the finish line.

Last year there were 595 finishers in just under two hours and a fourth victory for Bishop Sutton resident David Eagon (Bristol & West, 35:27) as fifth-placed Rosie Hamilton-James (Westbury Harriers, 37:40) went close to the women's course record of 37:28. Pete Brownlee of Chew Valley Films has put together this superb video of the 2023 Chew Valley 10K. Fix yourself a brew, sit back, and soak up the event's atmosphere ...

Jointly sponsored by Winford Ford and Brock & Houlford Expert Eyecare, the race offers plenty for first-timers and fast-timers to enjoy. The race appeals to young and old, many of whom return every year to take on the undulating route. The event's charity beneficiaries this year are Chew Valley School Society, Bishop Sutton School Society, NICU Support, and Black2Nature.
