Santa Goes Green This Christmas

Celtic FC Foundation has unveiled plans for a special festive fundraiser...

One of Scotland's biggest football clubs is doing its bit to give back to the community this Christmas with the announcement of a brand new festive fundraiser for December. The question you're all probably asking is are we talking green or blue...

In this instance we are talking green! Celtic Football Club Foundation has revealed plans for a Santa Stroll which will take place on the morning of Saturday, 10 December at the club's home ground - Celtic Park. Those taking part will run (or walk) around the stadium footprint in a route that will encapsulate the circumference of the stadium.

Beginning at the top of The Celtic Way in front of the Brother Walfrid statue, participants will head past the Lisbon Lions Stand, then make their way through the North Stand underpass and the Jock Stein Stand on their way back to the front of the stadium.

There are two distances on offer with the Santa Stroll Junior 1 Mile event for those under the age of 12 and the The Santa Stroll 5K for everyone else. The junior event will see participants run two laps of Celtic Park while the 5K will take in six laps.

To get everyone into the festive spirit, each participant will be provided with a Celtic Santa hat and Santa Stroll t-shirt. A spokesperson said: "All funds raised from this brand new event will support Celtic FC's 2022 Christmas Appeal, which reflects the very essence of why our club was set up back in 1887.

"The Appeal will help to bring the magic of the festive season to children, families, pensioners, those in refuge, the homeless, refugees and others who are struggling at an especially challenging time of year. So please follow in the footsteps of Brother Walfrid and help us make a difference to those most in need within our communities this Christmas."
