Brighton Marathon atmosphere

Brighton Marathon 2021 entries are closing soon

Thursday 9 July at 10:00pm is the final deadline - act now

As a previous competitor Mark Ward recently posted with just a touch of irony on Brighton Marathon's official Facebook page: “That's what I hate about Brighton, just no support”!

With Brighton Marathon 2020 postponed to 20 September, but not guaranteed to go ahead, there is extra pressure on places for Europe's 8th largest marathon for the next two years. This is because if the 2020 event is cancelled, all general entry participants will be permitted to defer, free of charge, to either the 2021 or 2022 event.

As a result, there is a deadline looming of 10:00pm this Thursday 9 July for new entries for 2021 and the final few places are going like warm Sussex scones with jam and cream in a freshly reopened seafront café!

So if you want to join 20,000 runners who will be cheered every step of the way on the promenade by up to 150,000 enthusiastic spectators next year you must act now to secure your place on the start line. Peter Le Grice (Bristol & West AC, 2:16:22) set a British athlete's course record and Helen Davies (Ipswich Jaffa, 2:34:11) defended her women's title at the 10th Brighton Marathon in April last year.

There are also places available in the supporting BM10K, Cancer Research UK Kids & Teens Mini Mile, or the BM Ride for anyone who has missed the Brighton boat for this year. Brighton Marathon Weekend runs from 16-18 April 2021 and this will be the 12th annual iteration of the seaside classic, assuming the 2020 event does go ahead as planned.

The message from The Grounded Events Company is clear. The sands of time are running out for anyone who wants to dive in to sample the incredible atmosphere, stunning sea views, fabulous local support, dedicated and enthusiastic volunteers, and vibrant Event Village right on the beach.
