Runners To Advance On Brigg
If it's a flat and fast 10K you're after, this one is brilliant option...
Don't miss out on a chance to take on this year's Brigg Poppy 10K & Military Challenge which will take place in the North Lincolnshire market town on Sunday 30 October. But be quick, with a fast, flat route, bespoke finisher's medal and cake for all it is always a popular affair!
The scenic 10K offers great PB potential. North Lincs is well known for its flat terrain and so the course is certainly fast! Runners will also enjoy the closed country roads of the route and adding to the sense of occasion there will be a thrilling start and finish at Brigg Market Place.
In 2022 it was Elliott Stones who won the race in 31:57 while first female was Alice Fearn of Wreake and Soar Valley AC closked 40:07. As the out and back course is speedy, the 10K winner is expected to cross the line at approximately 10:17am, and they and the rest of the field will be cheered by spectators in the market place as they finish and the same for the military challengers.
Yes, the military challenge... should you fancy testing yourself a little more then this certainly lets you do just that! Competitors are required to wear boots and carry a backpack weighing 36lbs (16.3 kgs) for men and 24lbs (10.9 kgs) for women. No mean feat!
Those signing up for the Challenge are required to raise a minimum of £75 for the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal. In further support for the cause, there will be a two minute silence to pay tribute to those who have lost their lives serving our country. You can also expect a unique medal that celebrates the Poppy Appeal with organiser's proud to bring different designs each year.
