Auchengillan Trail Course

Be A Trail Champ This December

Are you tough enough for this proper multi terrain race?

Auchengillan is the stage for December's Winter Trail Race Championships - a friendly and 'well-organised' trail race for all ages and abilities. Taking place on 1 December, the event will start and finish in the grounds of Auchengillan Outdoor Centre which is a short 10 minute drive from Milngavie.

The event offers a solo 5 or 10 mile distance or if you would rather you can compete with a buddy as a two-leg relay. The course is 5 miles with a 225m climb and it is all off road on a mixture of hard trails, single track and unmade ground. The route will be signposted and marshalled but runners remain responsible for their own safety at all times and must ensure that they are appropriately dressed and trained for the event and weather conditions on the day.

Organisers say: "The course offers you the pleasure of running through picturesque open moorland with some fast forest running, stunning views, steep climbs, West Highland Way and open grassland. It is a brand new amazing course that will certainly challenge but not disappoint, with the vegetation at its best - it will be fun! The rest is a mystery…"

There will also be a 1.5 mile fun run beforehand for 5-16 year olds with some fun prizes on offer. This race will take place fully within the grounds of Auchengillan.

There will also be free race photos, bag store and prizes for class podium placers as well as spot prizes on the day. Those to take part can look forward to mince pies and mulled wine and there are also rumours of an after party, although details are to be confirmed.

All profits from the event will be distributed between Glasgow Universities’ Orienteering and Trailrunning Club, 1st Milngavie Scout Group and Auchengillan Outdoor Centre.
