Framlington Flyer Flies To Victory
Daisy Glover outpaces everyone in the ATW Bedford 10...
There was an eye-catching result from the ATW Bedford 10 and ATW Bedford 5 road races on Sunday, 25th January 2026. The 10-mile race was won outright by Daisy Glover – pictured above, centre in the blue top – who was 51 seconds ahead of the first man in 54:50!
The Framlington Flyer from Suffolk lived up to her club name by flying round the traffic-free course that starts and finishes on the beautiful Bedford Embankment. Runners head towards the Town Bridge, cross the River Ouse, head back towards Priory Country Park, loop around Priory Lake on parkland paths to finish back on the Embankment.
The whole route is on flat tarmac or firm paths with less than 100m of elevation. Renowned as a PB-beater, the race options are one lap (5 miles) or two laps (10 miles). The ATW Bedford 5 was included in 2023 and is growing in popularity.
In this year's ATW Bedford 5, the winners were Jude Bell (Shaftesbury Barnet Harriers, 24:24) and Sophia Campbell (Marshall Milton Keynes AC, 28:36). Over 20 runners beat 30 minutes, and 317 finished inside 90 minutes.
The ATW Bedford 10 saw 455 runners finish in 2:09:35, with the top 10 back in Priory Park inside an hour. The top three men were Scott Harman (Buckingham & Stowe RC, 55:41), Toby Waxman (St Neots Riverside Runners, 57:12), and Carl Tucker (Buckingham & Stowe RC, 57:47).
Those excellent times were eclipsed by the women's race winner, over eight minutes clear of the runners-up Anna Klucnika (Speya Running, 63:25) and Helen Mussen (Watford Joggers, 63:28), who were engaged in a huge tussle for the silver and bronze medal positions!
