Do Something Amazing This Autumn
Head to the Heart of England for this historic and scenic half marathon...
Head to the Heart of England this autumn for a great day of running at the aptly named Amazing Northampton Run. The 15 September event will take runners on a a grand tour of everything great in Britain's largest town.
Organisers say: "Be one of thousands to experience the second edition of the 13.1 mile closed-road half marathon route through beautiful parks, along the riverside, past great sporting venues and amazing architecture. And yes it’s true there are 190 metres of grass and 31 steps on the route!"
The half marathon route will take runners through beautiful parks, along the River Nene, past great sporting venues and amazing architecture. Starting in the town's historic Market Square, participants will pass by Sixfields Stadium and Franklin Gardens, through two parks and back to the town centre. Another place runners will snake past is the pretty St Giles’s Church, which contains the grave of no less a man than ‘The Father of the Pilgrims’ Robert Browne.
For those who would like to be a part of the occasion, but don't feel equipped to take on the full distance, there is the option to complete the race as part of a team relay challenge. There is also a 3 mile race which takes in part of the full half marathon course and allows entrants to experience being a part of all that entails.
A big part of the event is its association with a variety of charities, organisers say: "We are proud to work alongside nearly 30 charity partners, fundraising for a whole host of local and national causes. Free charity places are available to runners in return for minimum sponsorship raised."
