Alcester 10K returns on Sunday 11 October for its 12th edition, continuing a community running story that began in 2015.

That first race attracted 468 finishers and established a format that remains recognisable today: runners leave Alcester High Street behind and head into the Warwickshire countryside before returning to the market town for the finish.

The 2026 race starts at 10:00am and follows a single 10K loop along country lanes, with two drinks stations on the course. There is around 180ft of climbing, giving runners some gentle undulations without turning what has traditionally been a quick course into a major test of the hills.

Alcester's popularity has grown considerably since that inaugural race. Organisers Raceways Events say the 2025 event attracted more runners than ever and sold out early, while the race has accumulated more than 140 participant reviews with an overall rating of 4.8 out of five.

The community element extends beyond the main race. A free 1K Kids Fun Run follows at 11:45am, with every young finisher receiving a medal. Adult 10K finishers receive both a medal and T-shirt, with chip timing and post race snacks also included.

Raceways operates as a community interest company, using its events to bring together runners, volunteers, spectators and local businesses while supporting charity partners. Alcester 10K is currently partnered with Safeline, the Warwickshire based charity supporting people affected by sexual abuse and rape.

From fewer than 500 finishers in 2015 to an event capable of selling out, Alcester has quietly established itself on the autumn calendar. Twelve editions on, that journey from a bustling High Street to the Warwickshire lanes remains at the heart of it.
