Accrington 10K is a road race organised by Accrington Road Runners, following an undulating route through Altham and the surrounding area. The 10K course uses a mixture of rural and urban roads, providing plenty of variety as runners move between the different sections of the route.
The course features changing gradients throughout, making this a more testing option than a flat 10K. One of its distinctive features comes towards the end, where runners encounter around 2.4K of predominantly downhill running on the approach to the finish. The route is extensively marshalled and managed to help runners progress confidently around the course.
Accrington 10K provides a varied road running challenge for competitive and recreational runners in Lancashire. The mixture of rural surroundings, urban roads and undulating terrain gives the event its distinctive character, while a separate 2K junior race provides a shorter option for younger runners.
