The Aberfoyle Festival of Trail Running is organised by Outsider Events and held from Cobleland Campsite in Aberfoyle, Stirling. The festival brings together two challenging trail races: the Aberfoyle Trail Half Marathon and the Aberfoyle Ultra, showcasing the spectacular landscapes of the Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park.
Both routes follow a varied mix of forest tracks, single track trails and a short section of tarmac near the start before immersing runners in the forests and hills surrounding Aberfoyle. The courses pass through woodland that is particularly striking in autumn, with colourful foliage, lochside trails and panoramic views that include Ben Lomond. The Trail Half Marathon covers approximately 21.4 kilometres with around 350 metres of elevation, while the Ultra extends the challenge across a demanding 63 kilometre route.
Event headquarters are based at Cobleland Campsite, with a shuttle bus operating from Aberfoyle to assist runners travelling from the main event parking area. Known for its high quality organisation and memorable scenery, the festival has become a popular fixture in the Scottish trail running calendar, attracting runners looking for a rewarding off road challenge in one of Scotland's most scenic national parks.
