Lucky 13 In The Lakes
Run the valleys. Discover what you’re capable of...
Runners looking for an immersive trail experience are being invited to take on one of the UK’s most spectacular endurance events as the Altra 13 Valleys Ultra returns to the Lake District from 25 to 27 September this year.
Set within the breathtaking landscapes of the Lake District National Park, the event offers a unique journey through some of the region’s most iconic fells, valleys and mountain passes. Designed to showcase the very best of the Lakes, the challenge gives participants the opportunity to explore historic trails and dramatic scenery across a range of distances.
Runners can choose from four options, starting with a half marathon and building up to the full 180km ultra, which traverses all 13 valleys. Each route has been carefully planned to balance challenge with reward, offering an unforgettable experience whether you are stepping up to your first trail race or tackling a major ultra-distance goal.
Despite the scale of the event, organisers have placed a strong emphasis on inclusivity and support. Generous cut-off times, well-stocked feed stations and a dedicated team of volunteers help ensure that runners of all abilities feel welcome and looked after throughout their journey.
The event is also deeply rooted in the local community, with villages and supporters along the route creating an atmosphere that combines the grandeur of the landscape with a personal and encouraging feel. Sustainability and respect for the environment remain central to the event’s ethos, with careful planning aimed at protecting the natural beauty of the area.
For runners seeking more than just a race, a meaningful challenge, unforgettable scenery and a true connection to the landscape, Altra 13 Valleys Ultra delivers a running experience that stays with you long after the finish.
