Young runners wanted to steam ahead at Goldrush Express
Need for speed at new Go-Faster Virtual Race Series.
Whilst adults have Race the Train, children now have the Goldrush Express as part of the new Go-Faster Virtual Race Series from Nice Work. This is the first in the series of four x 1 mile races to give youngsters something to aim for and parents are welcome too.
Youngsters have taken part in many races held by Nice Work and this includes their popular virtual 5K and 1K events. Taking this youthful enthusiasm into account Nice Work have devised this new series purely for junior runners and with a ‘speed’ theme.
The 1 mile races are:
July – Goldrush Express
August – Space Race
September – Speed Merchant
October – Supersonic
The format is the same as other virtual events: the budding Usain Bolt runs 1 mile on a route of their choosing at a time to suit them (and their parents) within the month. They record their session using a GPS watch or fitness app and take a selfie/ask their parents to photograph them when they have finished. This evidence is emailed to Nice Work who collate all the finish times and display these on a leader board.
The organisers will award prizes for overall and age category winners and for the best finishers’ selfies/photos. Every finisher will be sent a themed medal.
This event is designed for children but their parents can take part as well and they too receive a medal for their efforts. A family-friendly way to stay fit and motivated during summer and into autumn.
