Yorkshire Marathon Festival

Join The Running Party!

The countdown has begun for one of the country's best-loved marathon festivals...

The countdown is on for Yorkshire Marathon Festival’s 10th Anniversary celebrations, with the popular running event marking a decade when it takes place later this year on 15 October.

This year’s Anniversary edition will include the Yorkshire Marathon, Yorkshire 10 Mile and Yorkshire Marathon Relay demonstrating that from elites to first-timers to charity runners, the Yorkshire Marathon is truly an event for all. The festival has always been about ordinary people achieving extraordinary things and this year is no different.

Capturing the Yorkshire Spirit with its charitable causes and the supporting of thousands of cheering locals, this year’s Festival will celebrate the qualities of what makes Yorkshire so great; pride, warmth, inclusivity and community spirit.

Since the inaugural Yorkshire Marathon in 2013, around 90,000 runners have entered this epic challenge and thanks to runners like you, a phenomenal £7.5 million has been raised for charity.

Drawing runners of all ages and abilities both nationally and internationally, the Yorkshire Marathon Festival has grown to become a major sporting fixture, a true testament to the event’s character and significance on the global running calendar. Attracting participants from across the globe, 65 countries have been represented at the Yorkshire Marathon Festival.

Enthused by the opportunity to run through York’s historic streets and surrounding scenic Yorkshire countryside, the marathon course decorates local sights such as York Minster and the ancient city walls.

The Yorkshire 10 Mile takes in much of the same route over a shorter distance, while in the Yorkshire Marathon relay, teams of six colleagues, friends, or teammates come together to each take on a leg of the marathon, to complete the full marathon distance.

Mike Tomlinson commented: “We are extremely proud to be celebrating the 10th Anniversary of the Yorkshire Marathon Festival. The event has grown to be such an iconic event and is so well received, not only across the region, but around the world.

"Whether you join us for the Yorkshire Marathon Festival year on year or haven’t joined us for a while, we would love to see you at the start line this year for our 10th Anniversary year.”
