Midweek Series Returns For 2025
Four scenic summer challenges on offer at this popular midweek series...
Evenings in Worcestershire are set for a competitive edge this summer as the popular Worcestershire Midweek Series returns for 2025, offering runners four varied and scenic races across the county. Organised by a trio of local clubs, the series offers a brilliant way to break up the week, with each race held on a Wednesday evening and all starting at 7.30pm.
This well-loved series kicks off on 21 May with the Hagley 10K, hosted by Halesowen Athletics Club, where runners will tackle a two-lap trail route. Next up is the Arrow Valley 12K on 18 June, a two-lap off-road run around the lakes and paths of Redditch’s Arrow Valley Country Park.
July brings the Droitwich 10K on 9 July, a challenging and hilly road race that begins and ends at Churchfields Farm - a firm favourite for its countryside views and post-run ice cream options. The grand finale arrives on 13 August with the Clent 8K, hosted once again by Halesowen, promising two tough and hilly laps around the iconic Clent Hills starting from the National Trust’s Nimmings Wood Car Park.
The Clent race will be followed by the end-of-series presentations back at Halesowen Athletics Club, rounding off a summer of friendly rivalry, community atmosphere and plenty of climbing.
Organisers say: "Runners need to sign up for the full series to be eligible for the overall standings, with the best three results from the four races counting towards the final age group rankings. It’s the perfect motivation to challenge yourself over a summer of scenic but testing Wednesday night racing in the heart of Worcestershire."
