David Allworthy And Harriet Johnson At Clawson 10K

Runners say 'cheese' at Clawson 10K

David Allworthy and Harriet Johnson were fine ambassadors for Lincoln Wellington AC with victories at the hilly Clawson 10K (Sunday 19 May). They were amongst 12 lucky prize winners of the famed Clawson cheese.

The cheeses were one of several goodies on offer at the Clawson 10K trail race organised by Fit Belvoir that put runners and walkers off-road skills to the test. Over 270 entrants of all ages set off at 11am from Long Clawson Village Hall on the edge of the Vale of Belvoir in Leicestershire. They faced ‘that hill’, a large badger hole and a few ascents and descents; however, their reward was stunning views of the surrounding countryside in perfect conditions.

David Allworthy was the winning man in 43:12 followed by Adam Watford in 44:11. Christian Davidson was third in 44:22.

Harriet Johnson was the winning female in 46:55 with Hannah Sampson second in 50:23 and Suzanne Rathbone third in 54:35. Suzanne’s daughter Lucy was the first U18 girl in 51:32 making it a good day at the office for the Rathbone family. Josh Hatherley was the first U18 boy in 50:25.

There were wins too for Andrew Unitt (1st 60+ male) in 51:46; Julie Walton (1st 60+ female) in 1:12:28. Christopher Aldred was the first Clawson resident male in 45:39; Laura Suschitzky was the first Clawson resident female in 1:04:40.

These 12 good men and women were presented with a bag containing cheeses courtesy of Long Clawson Dairy Ltd along with a medal and trophy. There were medals for all the finishers and the proceeds were donated to the Long Clawson Village Hall fund.
