runners come down tree-lined avenue at Windsor Half

Be part of a royal running family at Windsor in 2019

The organisers of one of the UK's top half marathons are expecting 6,000 entries for the 2019 staging of their event and are urging runners to enter soon and take advantage of early bird rates.

Windsor Half Marathon is a fixture in the autumn calendar with an ideal scheduled date of Sunday 29 September – perfect for summer training and normally cool racing conditions. Highlights of the Berkshire race are an iconic location with more than a touch of Royal spirit and a hugely supportive, community atmosphere.

In addition the course with its start and finish on the famous Long Walk in the Great Park with Windsor Castle as the backdrop is one of the best loved on the racing circuit. Other highlights are breath-taking scenery, traffic free roads and a route with a mix of flat and hilly sections.

Windsor Half (& Women's 10K) is an event which attracts a celebrity field with DJ Chris Evans, his buddy Vassos Alexander, Nell McAndrew and Princess Beatrice among the finishers in recent years.

Race director Peter Hier says: “Early Bird entries for our 2019 event are open. This is a great opportunity to secure your race place ahead of time for what is sure to be an even bigger, better event in September!”

“Windsor Half Marathon is a race made particularly special by all the local runners, the spectators and the volunteer support we receive year after year. The community really comes out to support us, and we’re excited to give back another incredible event in our 37th year!

"We have a long standing history in Windsor, and we work hard to maintain an event that supports local charities and has something for all the family to enjoy so be sure to put it in your diary.”

Windsor Half Marathon's partner race is Windsor Women’s 10K (Saturday, 28 September).
