Runners follow a route which is mostly on tracks, footpaths, field crossings and country lanes to circumnavigate the town of Warrington anticlockwise. The route is waymarked with tape markers, though runners must carry maps and be able to navigate. There are checkpoints at the 10, 20 and 30 mile points, with food and drink provided. There is a hot meal provided at the finish for all runners, and finishers also get the coveted Warrington Way technical T-shirt and medal. The race is organised by Lymm Runners, a UK Athletics registered running club, licensed by the Trail Running Association, and authorised by Warrington Borough Council.
